Chiropractic More Effective Than Drugs for Back Pain

The Study

The trial enrolled 101 patients with acute and chronic low back pain and divided them into three groups: chiropractic spinal manipulative therapy, diclofenac (a commonly prescribed NSAID), and a placebo. At follow-up assessments, the chiropractic group demonstrated significantly greater reductions in pain intensity and disability compared with both the medication and placebo groups.

Pain medication addresses the brain's perception of pain — it doesn't fix the underlying mechanical problem.
